Most of my visual art is an interpretation on the American landscape, particularly that of my home area, the Driftless region of the Midwest. Because the Driffless region is an area of hills and winding valleys and farmland planted in alternating strips of corn or soybean and alfalfa, there is a strong element of abstract patterns in this work. Other of my works are unmistakably abstract, inasmuch as the objects are always recognizable. I will soon be moving into figurative painting as I work to understand my fellow man in our post-machine society.
