Robert Wolf began conducting non-traditional writing workshops in 1989. This was a time when writing workshops were geared for those with literary ambition. Wolf wanted to conduct workshops for everyday working folk.
The project began with a workshop for the homeless in Nashville and then for farmers in northeast. National publicity followed with stories on “All Things Considered“ “Morning Edition,” “CBS Sunday Morning,” and the Associated Press. Following the publication of three farm books, small towns began hiring Wolf to create their town’s self-portrait.
No one else was doing this.
Since then we’ve conducted workshops in two dozen states and given hundreds of people the delight of crafting their own stories. A few have even gone on to write professionally.
